Selecting the Correct File Type for Video and On-Screen Menus

To ensure proper readability of the DTS logo in video or on-screen menus, the video engineer and/or graphic designer must apply the correct file type in the proper manner. Otherwise, quality problems will naturally occur. Please note the illustrations below. When using the logo in After Effects, or similar motion graphics tools, the originating file must be a vector-based eps (provided for download at http://www.logo.com). Once the file is imported into the program, it should be scaled appropriately, then it is crucial that the designation called "continuously raster" be applied to the graphic. If not, the problems shown below, and worse, will occur.

Correct File Type

This logo is a properly applied vector artwork .eps file. Notice the clean crisp edges.

Incorrect File Type, Do Not Use Raster Based Files

This logo is not properly applied. Imported as a raster-based .jpg file, it lost detail and sharpness when enlarged. Raster artwork should only be used at the size it was imported or below. Even then, the resolution must be appropriate for the application.

Incorrect File Type, Do Not Use Bitmap Files

This logo is not properly applied. Imported as a bitmapped file, it lost detail and sharpness when applied. The only appropriate file to import for video media application is a pure vector file, prepared in Adobe Illustrator.
