DTS–HD Advantages
A backward–compatible DTS Digital Surround® core, up to 1509kbps, that plays on any DTS decoder is always present inside every Blu–ray Disc Primary Audio or HD DVD Main Audio bit–stream.
More Efficient Use of Disc Space:
Within one stream, the DTS–HD Encoder provides for high data–rate compression efficiency and eliminates the need to encode redundant backward compatible components as required by other audio coding schemes. The result – greater efficiency and less disc space needed with a single DTS–HD Master Audio sound file.
Flexibility to Fit Any Bit-Budget:
The DTS–HD Master Audio Suite provides more encoding options to maximize audio quality within the allocated audio space on any type of disc project. The suite supports all mandatory and optional audio formats for Blu–ray Disc Primary Audio, HD DVD Main Audio, HD DVD Sub Audio and Blu–ray Disc Secondary Audio stream types.
Summary of New Features in V1.6
- Dynamic Metadata for Blu–ray Disc Secondary Audio:
With MAS 1.6, DTS Express™ encoding modes now provide a unique way of embedding dynamic volume automation for BD Secondary Audio. Playable on all Profile 1.1 and BD Live (Profile 2.0) players, DTS Express encodes enable creative freedom and flexibility to dynamically control the volume between Primary and Secondary Audio. Users can export dynamic volume automation from Pro Tools® in the form of an AAF file and embed the automation within a DTS Express stream as metadata. Dynamic volume automation is a must for alternate soundtracks, commentaries, Picture-in-Picture, and other added value content for Blu-ray Disc.
- File Management Enhancements:
Auto Import Audio Files
Upon importing the Left channel audio file, the encoder will auto-select and import the remaining related input files, eliminating the need to import each file individually.
Input files section "Clear All" option
A "Clear All" button under the Input Files section and a "Clear Input Files After Each Encode" preference simplify the file import process.
Remember last directory in file browsers of DTS-HD Encoder and DTS-HD StreamTools
"Input Files", "Open", and "Save To" file browsers will open with last directory used, respectively.
- Other Enhancements:
Log File Optimization - Revised to show the optimal encode information
Encode & Verify as one item in Encode Queue - Improved streamlined display
Ability to cancel a Verify job in the Encode Queue - Cancel a Verify job at any point.
Queue "Clear All Complete" jobs – New button clears all complete and canceled Encode Queue jobs.
Summary of Features in V1.5
- DTS Express audio encoding for Blu–ray Disc Secondary Audio – With support for static or dynamic primary audio attenuation metadata as well as static mono panning.
- Stand–alone version of the DTS–HD StreamPlayer – Plays back any DTS stream and also includes mixing of Primary and Secondary audio, with synchronization to QuickTime video.
- Mac Intel Support (OSX 10.4.8) - With encode speeds of up to 4 x real time for lossless DTS–HD Master Audio encoding.
- Enhanced Batch Encoding – Including Auto-Verify, Auto PBR (Peak Bit Rate) Analysis, and MD5 checking (MD5 is now attached to bottom of log file).
- PBR Graphics – Graphical bit rate analysis for lossless audio encodes within DTS–HD StreamTools
- Templates and Settings – Save and Recall encode and downmix settings
- DTS–Surround Music Disc Support – 44.1kHz surround .wav file encoding CD–Rs as well as support for stereo 88.2 kHz.
- DTS Express Encoding for Blu–ray Disc Secondary Audio:
DTS Express™ – For BD–Profile 1.1 or HD DVD HDi Advanced Content Disc:
HD DVD Sub–Audio and BD Secondary Audio capabilities are designed to seamlessly playback and mix the Primary/Main and Secondary/Sub audio streams without interrupting playback – providing new levels of interactivity such as picture–in–picture, menu audio, pop up windows, updated director commentaries and more. Future uses also include Internet streaming and downloading to further enhance the home entertainment experience. These interactive audio assets, encoded using the DTS–HD MAS Encoder, deliver superior sound quality at the low data rates. Support for Blu–ray Secondary Audio includes mono, stereo or 5.1 DTS Express™ stream types with metadata while support for HD DVD Sub Audio includes mono or stereo of either DTS Express™ or DTS® stream types.
Blu–ray Secondary Audio can utilize embedded metadata to attenuate the level of the Primary Audio track. DTS–HD Master Audio Suite allows for two modes of embedding this metadata: Static – via faders in the new Bitstream tab or Dynamic – via AAF files generated by Digidesign Pro Tools software with Digitranslator 2.0. AAF support will expand to other software platforms.
- Save/Recall Settings:
With the ability to save and recall encoding and downmix settings, you can quickly access your preferred setups. This feature comes–in quite handy and is a real time saver when creating encodes for multiple languages, numerous menu audio segments, as well as DTS Express segments for interactivity.
- Enhanced Diagnostics and Batch Encoding:
Error Detection and Diagnostics further enhance efficiency and accuracy, the DTS–HD Master Audio Suite has a set of error detection and diagnostics built–in. In addition to verification and file information utilities, the status window keeps the user informed of operations, menu selections, successful encodes, as well as any errors encountered. Encoding can be cancelled at any time by the user if desired, and the encoder also generates a text log of key parameters including: Start Time, End Time, Sample Rate, Channel Layout, ES Flag, Rear Channel Attenuation, Dialog Normalization, Reference Timecode, and Downmix Coefficients. New features include MD5 ID generation for log files.
Enhanced Batch Encoding with the "Encode Queue":
Building on the success of the "Encode Queue" batch encoder introduced with Version 1.1, DTS–HD Master Audio Suite™ V1.5 now includes a number of automated features such as auto verify, auto analysis of peak bit rates for lossless streams, as well as auto calculate an MD5 for file transfer verification. Much like a printer queue, you can simply import audio files, define parameters and press encode. No need to press numerous buttons, tabs and windows – the Encode Queue automatically starts the encoding process.
The Encode Queue acts as an information and priority management hub for multiple encode jobs with the ability to display pending, in–progress, and completed jobs. The priority of each job can be easily adjusted by selecting the job, then moving it up or down in the queue using the "nudge buttons". After each job is completed, Encode Queue provides quick access to the encode completion log file.
Take the night off – Encode Queue has you covered. Already one of the fastest and most efficient surround audio encoders on the market, MAS and SAS feature an Encode Queue that takes your productivity to the next level.
