Playing DTS on a PC using a Software-based Decoder

The best way to experience DTS motion picture soundtracks and multi-channel music tracks on your PC is with a multi-channel speaker system. The choice is whether to decode DTS inside or outside your PC.

Step 1

Make sure your PC has a DVD-ROM drive.

Step 2

Install software-based DTS decoder such as Cyberlink PowerDVD or InterVideo WinDVD.

Note: there are multiple versions of this software, so check to confirm it includes DTS decoding ability.

Step 3

The DTS output will be either multi-channel or two-channel depending upon your soundcard.
• If you have a multi-channel soundcard you can either hook up 5.1-channel external computer speakers or use audio cables to the analog inputs of an A/V receiver.
• If your soundcard is two-channel, the DTS decoder will automatically down-mix it so that you can hook up a pair of computer speakers.
