DTS Surround Sound in Video Games

DTS is not just for the movies, home theater and playback in your car or SUV. Many video game developers are offering multi-channel sound that can be enjoyed using your existing computer speaker system or A/V receiver.

To play DTS on your PlayStation®2 you will need:
1. A DTS-encoded game cartridge.
2. A DTS-capable receiver or add-on decoder and a Toslink Digital Optical cable to connect it to your game console.
3. Multiple speaker channels for up to 5.1-channel DTS playback.

Now you can be surrounded with sound from all directions. During an NHL game, turn on the red light and your teammates will mob you. Dominate the boards, and the crowd wants more. Score the Stanley Cup winner and you're a instant legend. As SCEI, developers of PlayStation®2, say in their promotional literature: “These games ramp up the noise, the glory and the sheer physical force of NHL hockey to deliver higher levels of intensity and emotion.” Gamers are able to hear the action from five angles, and are literally engulfed in sound as players seem to move towards you from each corner of the room.
